Thermography

Thermography is a test that can be utilised to identify unbalanced loads, poor connections, deteriorated insulation or any other issues in transformers, batteries and electrical panels or components without dismantling the components.

Thermography is effective method widely used for preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems over time. Well maintained electrical equipment, especially transformers, is one of the main factors for ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the end users. The standard methods for faults diagnosis in most cases require the supply voltage to be switched off  this step can be skipped with this technology .Infrared thermography can pinpoint defects that have already occurred and help diagnose others in their initial phase, thus preventing expensive repairs, serious energy losses, short circuits and fires.

Shows a visual representation of temperatures over large areas for comparison purposes.

Can capture thermal images of moving targets in real time.

Can measure hazardous or inaccessible or areas.

Advantages:

  • It is a non-contact type technique helps to measure heat
  • Fast, reliable & accurate output
  • A large surface area can be scanned in a very short time
  • Presented in visual & digital form
  • Data can be stored for later image processing and analysis
  • Easily prioritize emergencies.
  • the infrared radiation properties to extract useful conclusions for the condition of the equipment under test.
  • Detects  oil level in transformers
  • It is a non-evasive non-destructive examination of electrical panels which can aid in the maintenance programs.
